Chapter 1

Global Payroll Challenges and Market Landscape

Monica Reynolds

Hey everyone, welcome back to the Dayforce SKO 2026 Breakout Sessions Recap. I'm Monica Reynolds—if you’ve tuned in before, you know we love getting into the nitty-gritty of what’s driving real value in HR tech. Today’s episode, “Mastering Global Payroll with Dayforce,” is packed with insights from our 2025 whitepaper and the latest industry research, so let’s dive right in.

Monica Reynolds

So global payroll—this is a space that’s just getting more complicated every year. We've got automation, AI, and process standardization pulling the market forward, but also, honestly, a fair bit of chaos. The Hackett Group and Dayforce’s own 2025 whitepaper both pointed out that even though technology is getting smarter, keeping up with regulatory changes and making sure everything’s compliant in every country? Not getting any easier. In fact, I think the term they used was “an escalating challenge.” Couldn't agree more.

Monica Reynolds

The other thing that really jumped out at me—there’s a big push for process standardization and provider consolidation. That sounds kind of boring on the surface, but it’s absolutely critical if you want true global visibility and operational efficiency. I had this great conversation with a COO recently at an industry event—he was actually almost venting about not being able to see consolidated payroll data across three regions. And then, just as they were starting to solve that, new regulatory requirements came out of left field, forcing them back to square one. That’s the reality a lot of our clients are living, and, well, it makes the case for a more cohesive platform, right?

Monica Reynolds

Now, when we talk about the competitive landscape—Dayforce, honestly, sits in a pretty unique spot. We’re right there with ADP, Workday, SAP, STRADA... but there are significant differences. Some of those guys rely pretty heavily on patching together third parties or, let’s say, bolting payroll onto a bigger HCM, which doesn’t always work for global organizations. Dayforce’s edge is, we’re built for compliance and unified experience first—and that makes a huge difference. If you listened to our last episode on working with SI partners, you’ll remember how much complexity those integrations add. The providers who can’t own both the data and the compliance piece really struggle to deliver a solution at scale.

Monica Reynolds

So, for companies wrestling with fragmented systems, regulatory surprises, and a need for total data visibility, it’s no wonder global payroll is top of mind. And honestly, it’s only going to get more complex. But there are some bright spots, and, that’s where the latest product innovations come in—let’s talk about those.

Chapter 2

Innovations in Product and Global Payroll Delivery

Monica Reynolds

Okay, so moving on to what’s new on the product and delivery side at Dayforce. If there’s one thing I’ve heard over and over from customers, it’s how critical true automation and native compliance support are. Our payroll platform starts with a native payroll engine—what that means in plain terms is, compliance isn’t an afterthought, it’s really built in from the ground up. I mean, we’re talking about 800-plus compliance updates delivered worldwide through continuous calculation, so organizations get real-time compliance and risk mitigation right in the pay run—no more end-of-cycle scrambling.

Monica Reynolds

And, you might have heard about our new expansions—Mexico and Germany are next up for native engines. That’s a pretty big deal if you operate across North America or Europe, and you’ve felt pain around local tax or labor rules. The benefit of this approach is, if there’s a change in statutory rules—boom, it’s applied inside Dayforce automatically. No lag, no guessing if your provider’s caught up to the law.

Monica Reynolds

But the real game changer lately? The Dayforce Payroll Interface, or DPI. For the multinationals out there, the DPI is what's allowing us to simplify some truly gnarly integrations. It standardizes global payroll connections, improves data clarity, and really lightens the lift for both IT and payroll teams. I get this question a lot: “How does DPI actually make things easier?” Here’s one example—a global retailer used DPI to consolidate five payroll systems across four continents. Before Dayforce, they were sending files back and forth, manually checking compliance in each jurisdiction, and inevitably, there were data mismatches. Now, with DPI and our certified network of partners, they’ve got a single source of truth for payroll, better accuracy, and they can actually trust their analytics.

Monica Reynolds

One thing I always say is—you can either chase your payroll errors or prevent them. DPI and the native engines mean you’re in more of a prevention mode, which, believe me, is where you want to be. And building on what we discussed in episode three, the network of certified payroll partners also gives us, and our SI partners, a way to implement global payroll more flexibly—supporting those who want either a managed approach or self-service, or even direct API-based integration. It’s all about giving customers the extensibility and future-proofing they need.

Monica Reynolds

So, innovation is central, but it’s nothing without customer success behind it. Let’s shift gears and talk about how Dayforce is helping buyers and sellers win—especially as we look at 2026.

Chapter 3

Enabling Customer Success and Seller Strategies in 2026

Monica Reynolds

Alright, let’s talk customer success and the playbook for sellers heading into 2026. So, there’s not just one way to win in global payroll—Dayforce gives you four real options: unified and native payrolls, managed services, certified connectors, and open APIs for those that want to do their own thing. Each path fits a different operating model, and honestly, that flexibility is what global buyers are demanding now.

Monica Reynolds

A lot of organizations are actually moving out of the payroll business, if you will—about 47% of surveyed companies plan to increase investment in outsourced or managed services. Why? Compliance is a headache, reliability is critical, and fixing payroll errors is way more expensive than preventing them in the first place. Plus, staff turnover in payroll is high and new regulations come fast, so managed services backed by Dayforce's tech and expertise take a lot of risk off the table.

Monica Reynolds

And the numbers don’t lie—89% of payroll pros say their tech causes them headaches, and 74% say reliability is their biggest concern. When customers move payroll and workforce management onto Dayforce, not only are they seeing better compliance and analytics, they’re actually scaling faster. There was a big win with Mattel recently—they brought together time, payroll, and analytics on a single platform and got better visibility across all their regions. That integration just unlocked so much operational efficiency, and more importantly, they trusted the data. That's the goal here.

Monica Reynolds

I've also spent a ton of time with cross-functional teams building out seller enablement programs for exactly this reason. The market is moving quickly, and sellers need to speak the language of the CFO, the CIO, sometimes the COO, and even the in-country teams. That means consistent, clear messages about compliance, cost, control, and choice. If you're only talking about features, you're missing the conversations that actually close deals. I've learned—sometimes the best thing you can do is just listen, understand their pain actually comes from data fragmentation or not being able to answer a regulator's question right away.

Monica Reynolds

So, to wrap up today—Dayforce is all-in on helping both customers and our sellers thrive in this next chapter. As always, thanks for listening in, and we’ll keep bringing you more real-world strategies and customer stories as the market evolves. Catch you next time.
